Missouri Rankings Update: Gary Jay & “Raging Bull” Maverick exhibit ‘Spirit!’

Posted by Ben Simon on March 3, 2018

MO Rankings

SEE THE RANKINGS

The rankings were published earlier this week, but this update is very late.  These rankings are good before RCW’s event in Richland on Saturday, March 3.  Sorry for the delay.

The new Official Missouri Rankings list, good through April, has been calculated and published.  Head over to the MO Rankings page for the latest publication.  To qualify for the Top 10, a wrestler must have the highest ratings with consistent activity (RD ≤ 175).  Rankings are published every two months.

For details on how the rankings work, read the Introduction

MOVEMENTS & EXPLANATIONS

CAce Hawkins defended his Missouri State title twice in Cape Girardeau this period, including a high-profile match with “Handicapped Hero” Gregory Iron.  Up next for Hawkins is Karim Brigante on March 10 in Moscow Mills and a non-title clash with Savanna Stone on March 31 in St. Louis.

#2Jeremy Wyatt has delivered #1Dak Draper his first loss in Missouri.  Wyatt proved to the Joplin crowd that he is rightfully “The Man” in the NWL.  Wyatt advances one spot, switching places with #3Jay Howard.  “The Monarch” won’t pass Draper just yet.  Draper remains as number 1.

The breakouts after 2018’s first two months are #4Gary Jay and #5Maverick, who both advance four rungs.  “The Stiff Robo Ginger” Gary Jay rode a winning streak as Spirit of the NWL champion, including two recent wins over Leo Howlett.  “Raging Bull” Maverick has since dethroned Jay (outside the State) and has pinned #6Jack Foster.  Foster stays put.

The last four spots changed on the premise of losses and inactivity.  Jon Webb, Red Cloud, and Bolt Brady (formerly known as Blaine Meeks) take an exit this period.  “Lakota Warrior” Red Cloud and Brady have been scarce, with Brady just returning for a single match under his new name.  Webb has been in the Top 10 uninterrupted since July-August 2015, but he suffered two big defeats that sent him plummeting down the ranks.

Considering all that, #7Anthony Gutierrez advances three spots.  Room is cleared for KCXW Kansas City champion #8The Marksman, #9Jet Royal, and NBW champion #10Steve Fender.
