NWA Dynamo Pro 5-22-10 recap

Posted by reimaginejournalism on June 14, 2010

By Kari Williams

Tyler Cook put on a good showing against Domino Rivera in the opening contest at NWA Dynamo Pro’s return to Glen Carbon, Ill. The two went back and forth, but Cook’s perseverance willed him on and he snuck out a win with a roll up after countering Rivera, who had nearly emerged victorious.

Mat Fitchett took on Alexandre Rudolph, accompanied to the ring by Sadie Blaze, in an uphill battle. Rudolph tried to use his size to his advantage, but Fitchett would have none of it and used his speed and agility to gain a momentary advantage. But Rudolph’s size was his greatest ally, and he pinned Fitchett in the middle of the ring.

Billy McNeil and Dan Walsh went at it in the third contest, which started out respectful on both ends, but Walsh soon became frustrated with McNeil’s antics—and the fake mustache on his shirt and his face. Though McNeil had to fight his way back against Walsh, Walsh’s anger became his demise, as McNeil walked away with the win.

OutKast tried to gain retribution on K.C. Karrington from Karrington’s attack after a match during the last Dynamo Pro show. OutKast was well on his way toward victory the moment the bell rang, but Karrington did a good job of fighting back from defeat. Nonetheless, OutKast still came out on top, but it was Karrington who got the last laugh, as he blasted OutKast with a chair after the bout ended.

The Submission Squad (Pierre Abernathy & Evan Gelistico) went up against Gary Jay and Super Electro prior to the main event. These two teams went back and forth, with neither gaining a solid advantage. Gelistico was able to keep Gary grounded long enough to come closer to the win, but once Super Electro got the tag, he forced the Squad to fight for victory. And that they did, as Gelistico forced Electro to tap.

NWA Missouri Champion “Spitfire” Davey Vega defended his belt against Kyle O’ Reilly in the main event. This technical contest tested the will and determination of Vega as well as O’ Reilly. About half way through the bout, the two men took the battle out of the ring, past the barricade and into the crowd. Making their way back to the ring, Vega slowly began to gain an advantage, but O’ Reilly would not go down easily. Even so, Vega was able to retain his belt.

The next NWA Dynamo Pro show is June 26 at The Sports Academy in Glen Carbon, Illinois.

Missouri Wrestling Revival is thrilled to announce that the tenth MWR Trading card will be none other than the current Ring of Honor World Champion Tyler Black.

Hailing from Davenport Iowa and trained by Danny Daniels, Tyler Black has quickly risen to the top with dedication and love for the sport. One of the most dynamic and exciting wrestlers it is hard to believe that at only 24 years of age Black is among the elite in the world today.

MWR trading card #10 celebrates the accomplishments of Tyler Black and will be a must have for all collectors. With photos from photographer Scott Finkelstein this card will go fast. Premier Insulation & Firestop Company sponsors Fathers Day weekend Double Main event in East Carondelet.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 12, 2010

MMWA-SICW returns to East Carondelet on Saturday June 19th to celebrate both Fathers Day and their 51 year anniversary of Wrestling at the Chase first aired in May of 1959. Last year they had the great Harley Race in attendance along with Gene Kiniski and Baron Von Raschke via telephone talking to the packed house.

This years event in sponsored by Premier & Firestop Company who is bringing to you two explosive main events worthy of the occasion. General Manager Sean Walsh will be on hand with all his union friends to cheer on Ron Powers as he and Danny Boy have an all out war against Gary Jackson and Waco. Premier Insulation & Firestop have purchased ads on the radio and local newspaper’s including the Labor Tribune inviting all their union brothers and sister to join them in East Carondelet on Saturday June 19th at 8pm. Sean grew up watching Wrestling at the chase and felt like he wanted to help support a local wrestling show that gives back to their community.

That’s not all, the MMWA-SICW Championship will be on the line when Dave Vaughn defends his title against Travis Cook’s protégé 6’9 235 lbs Donovan Ruddick. This is the match that we have all been waiting for. Can the champion withstand the power of Ruddick or will Vaughn’s wrestling ability be the edge in this battle between two of the best in the Midwest?

Also on hand will be the voice of Wrestling at the chase Larry Matysik and Mickey Garagolia to celebrate the occasion.

MWR fans bring your fathers and sons, heck bring the whole family for a fun filled evening.

Join MWR this Saturday in Dupo Illinois for Independent Hardcore Wrestling to be one of the first to get your hands on this special card.

IHW Presents Unbeatable This Saturday in Dupo IL

Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 10, 2010

In just a few days IHW will present it’s biggest show to date, “Unbeatable”. On it, we have three blockbuster matches announced and plenty more that are going to be just as entertaining. We’re going to run down some of the upcoming matches.

Mickie Knuckles appears in front of IHW fans again and puts her undefeated streak on the line against fellow female star, Mia Martinez. Mickie has defeated Sean Vincent and the Great Cheyenne since joining the company. Those are two big wins and while on paper, it doesn’t seem as if Mia has a snowballs chance in Hades of winning this match, this is professional wrestling, so expect the unexpected. Mickie should NOT take Mia lightly.

Globetrotter, Bailey Mannix, makes his IHW debut against former NWA World Junior Heavyweight champion and SLAM! Wrestling Canadian Hall of Fame inductee, Tony Kozina. Some may argue that Kozina has the advantage in this match based on experience alone, which is a valid argument, but Mannix is a lot younger and his level of talent can be compared to the Tony Kozina of the mid 90’s. Will the up and coming Bailey Mannix take the victory or will the high flying veteran, Tony Kozina, prove to everyone that he’s still got it?

The biggest match that’s been announced is the Last Man Standing amtch between IHW Illinois champion, Eric Allen, and IHW champion, Brandon Aarons. These two are no strangers to one another. While Aarons has the respect and admiration of fans all over this area, Eric Allen does not. Because of this, Allen harbors a great deal of jealous and resentment towards Aarons and feels that beating him will prove that Allen is the premiere wrestler in this area to not only the wrestling fans, but to himself. It’ll be interesting to see if Brandon Aarons can beat a man as desparate as Eric Allen who will do anything it takes, in this no holds barred match, to come out the winner.

In other news, Hollywood super agent, Mr. Late Nite, will be making another appearance @ “Unbeatable” on the 12th. What will he have in store? I don’t know to be quite honest, but if he’s involved, I’m sure it’s something underhanded. I don’t trust this guy as far as I can throw him, which isn’t very far…

We hope to see a record turn out in Dupo on June 12 for “Unbeatable”, so bring your friends, your family, your neighbor, or just bring yourself, but come on out and see a great night of wrestling @ the #1 show in the area, Independent Hardcore Wrestling!

Golden Circle: All Hail Overlord!!! By Greg Anthony

Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 9, 2010

Wrestling is a business where proximity plays a big part. During the territory days, when each had their own stars, someone who might be the biggest star in Memphis may as well be named Joe Blow when he goes to Portland. The same goes for our goals. If you grew up in Atlanta then being apart of the NWA but If you grew up here then being a part of Memphis Wrestling was always something you wanted to achieve, more so than any other territory branded local TV show. Because it was what you grew up on, and now you would have an opportunity to shine. Sometimes things don’t go as planned.

Memphis had two top notch federations in the early 2000s, Power Pro Wrestling and WWF(E) developmental Memphis Championship Wrestling. When WWE pulled its developmental deal from MCW, MCW then joined with Power Pro. However it wasn’t long before Power Pro itself became a thing of the past. I was working for Sir Mo in Mid America Championship Wrestling at The Dyersburg Entertainment Center, when it was brought up of Jerry Lawler and crew using DEC and most of MACW talent on what would be the next version of Memphis Wrestling. It was a huge opportunity for us young guys. Only a few years in the business and to be on such a program.

We taped every other Wednesday night and the show’s time slot was 11am Saturday morning. I remember being so excited after that first taping, like “Wow”, I’m going to be on Memphis Wrestling. I was living by myself at the time and couldn’t afford cable so I went over to my Grandma’s house to watch the show that morning. I was in a tag match with Bitty Little and was making myself a drink when Cory Maclin made the opening announcements. I really wasn’t paying attention and I heard him say “Bitty Little and ?????” I didn’t make out what he had said but I knew it didn’t sound like Golden Boy. So I watched the match and Bitty tagged me in and Corey said “And here comes Overlord!!”. WTF!! I’m sorry; did he just call me Overlord? My heart sank.

I didn’t know what to do or how to feel. I mean did he really think my name was Overlord? Golden Boy. Overlord.. Yeah that rhymes. Or was it a rib by someone on him, which really was a rib on me… or a rib on us both? I soon got over it, big whoop, he called me the wrong name but then I went to the show that night and the boys couldn’t resist calling me Overlord ALL NIGHT LONG. When something really bothers me and I’ve run out of witty comebacks… I usually repeat “F**k you” over and over.

Its just one of those funny little stories of when the business provides a little comic relief. Worse things couldn’t have happened, like they really wanted me to be called Overlord, like when they wanted to call Flair.. Spartacus. I made it out of that night alive and with my sanity. Just remember you never know what lurking in the shadows or in Cory Maclin’s commentary… All Hail Overlord!!!

Mike Sydal update part 1 .

Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 7, 2010

By Brian Kelley

The Midwest is having a banner year in 2010. Davenport Iowa’s Tyler Black proudly wears the Ring of Honor World title and could very well be the best wrestler in the World today, TNA and WWE have both held PPV’S in St Louis to start the year.

Pro Wrestling Phoenix and 3XWrestling have each celebrated their 5 year anniversary and Metro Pro Wrestling this very weekend has brought Wrestling back to the limelight in Kansas City.

Oh yes, what a great year 2010 has been and it started out perfectly when Pro Wrestling Illustrated and their readers voted Midwest very own Mike Sydal as THE 2009 PWI Rookie of the Year.

Not a day goes by that people don’t ask me where is Mike Sydal. In 2009 he wrestled in almost every MWR Promotion but the former High Voltage Wrestling Livewire Champion and one half of the 3XW Tag team Champions with Zach Thompson has been plying his trade outside the coverage area.

Thanks to our good friend Scott Finkelstein I give you a recap of one of my favorites wrestlers and yours Mike Sydal from March 14th this year at Pro Wrestling Respect. Coming soon will be photos of his match with the one and only Christopher Daniels.

Shane Hagadorn and Orange Cassidy defeated Alex Payne and Mike Sydal when Hagadorn pinned Sydal after a Kidney Punch (possibly with an illegal object).
