Brandon Espinosa continues his momentum in 2011- captures the Pro Wrestling Prestige title.
Posted by flairwhoooooo on August 21, 2011
Brandon Espinosa shocked the fans at PWP/NWA Supreme when he cashed in his guaranteed title shot that he won when he defeated TNA and ROH Star Jay Lethal earlier this year.
In Mattoon Illinois, during a title match for the Pro Wrestling Prestige title, EL Generico was able to defeat Ring of Honor World Champion Davey Richards, Oliver Cain and the 2010 MWR Wrestler of the Year Mike Sydal in a fatal fourway.

Before the masked luchadore El Generico could celebrate, Espinosa cashed in his title opportunity to PWP commissioner DA Morrison, and sneaked attacked the new champ. El Genreico would show a lot of heart but in the end, Brandon Espinosa would add the PWP title to his trophy case.

Three huge title matches for BLINDSIDE, August 27TH at New Midwest Wrestling.
Posted by flairwhoooooo on August 20, 2011
In June, these three men (Scott Keyes, Bucky Collins and Central Illinois Champion Tyler Priegel) stole the show in an epic triple threat encounter. Both Keyes and Collins impressed the New Midwest Wrestling matchmakers so much, that we had to bring that match back home to Lanphier High School. The challengers are more focused and more prepared for this contest. And “The Dodgeball Superstar” Tyler Priegel is coming off a white hot streak, especially after gaining a pinfall victory over Ryan Phoenix at our last event. Couple all this with the fact that Hunter Matthews, who is livid over not fighting Scott Keyes, is contesting this match even happening, and you’ve got one powderkeg of a Central Illinois Championship match!
Truk Thompson is, undoubtedly the powerhouse of New Midwest Wrestling. When it comes down to it, he has ran through everyone in his way and without remorse. On Saturday August 27th, he’ll get the one opportunity that has eluded him to this point: a match for the New Midwest Wrestling Championship. Ryan Phoenix has always been a fighting champion and has made it known that he is very ready to try to chop Thompson down. Phoenix has fought men larger than him, but no one with the sheer power of Truk Thompson. Phoenix is giving up a size and strength advantage, but has proven to be very resilient in the past.
Spencer Powers and Guy Smith took exception to the fact that Derek Moss, still in his rookie year, was getting opportunities left and right. That’s when Eric Logan stepped in. Logan felt Moss was humble and ready to prove himself. After winning a No. 1 Contenders match in May, the Crew has waited and will get their opportunity against the braggarts known as Attitude Inc. With Perry Winkle at ringside, the challengers have a heavy task in front of them.

“The History of Wrestling” puts ring icons on art canvas. From Wrestling with Pop Culture website
Posted by flairwhoooooo on August 20, 2011
By Jonathan Williams.
From album covers to political propaganda, it is not uncommon for artists to utilize other creative fields to establish themselves and gain a following. While music, film and other pop culture arenas lend themselves to artistic interpretation, it’s not often that a painter turns to professional wrestling for inspiration. But in the case of the St. Louis-based artist known simply as the Icon, wrestling is the basis of his most successful painting, “The Gods of Thunder: The History of Wrestling.” After releasing the painting in May of last year, it has since been published in the January issue of WWE Magazine, featured in the WrestleMania Art show last March and shown at fanfests and other wrestling events. The Icon has had more than 200 of the 355 wrestling personalities depicted in the painting sign a framed poster reproduction, so the wrestling community is definitely aware of his work. Wrestling with Pop Culture spoke to the Icon recently about how pop culture has influenced his artistic output.
