Missouri Rankings Update: “Wind of Destruction” Makaze & Justin “The Juice” Smart debut in Top 10

MO Rankings

SEE THE RANKINGS

The new Official Missouri Rankings list, good through October, has been calculated and published.  Head over to the MO Rankings page for the latest publication.  To qualify for the Top 10, a wrestler must have the highest ratings with consistent activity (RD ≤ 175).  Rankings are published every two months.

For details on how the rankings work, read the Introduction

MOVEMENTS & EXPLANATIONS

CKarim Brigante is still in Italy. He is scheduled to return to the U.S. in early October. With his last defense on May 5, this is the longest drought of Missouri title matches in modern history.

If the title was vacated, then a new champion would be crowned when the top two contenders wrestle one-on-one in Missouri, regardless of promotion. The top contenders aren’t exactly knocking down the door to do that.

Brian Kelley and I have decided to allow Brigante to remain champion, since he has a solid return date, and he did not anticipate being denied entry back into the U.S. two months ago.

#1Dak Draper, #2Jeremy Wyatt, #3Jon Webb, #4Maverick, and #5Gary Jay all stay in place. With all but Webb inactive in Missouri after the NWL’s demise, Draper and Gary will be pulled from the ranks next period, with the others to follow shortly. Webb couldn’t advance with his lone victory over newcomer Austin Cravens.

The next five spots were shaken up by the departures of Anthony Gutierrez, Jake Dirden, and Jayden Dominic Rose.

#6Brian James advances one spot after two successful MMWA Championship defenses at the South Broadway Athletic Club. Oddly, he can’t seem to curb interference in his matches; his last three defense victories have been by disqualification.

It’s hard to believe that this is the first time #7Makaze has entered our Top 10. The Dynamo Pro champ was on the bubble last period and his DQ win over Outtkast at Concordia Turners nudged him in.

#8Justin Smart may not be familiar to Missourians outside of Cape Girardeau, but he has earned his placement by defeating Brandon Barbwire at CCW. The two were evenly matched, and the winner would be mathematically probable to land in the Rankings.

New Breed Wrestling’s king #9Kyle Roberts is a perennial State contender. He returns to the list after a DQ win over rival (and Ringside Championship Wrestling titleholder) “Superstar” Steve Fender.

#10Da’Marius Jones has his second consecutive appearance here. No singles matches this period. No movement.
