The 2016 Iowa’s Latino Heritage Festival, “A Cultural Celebration this Weekend

The 2016 Iowa’s Latino Heritage Festival, “A Cultural Celebration,” is from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sept. 24 and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 25 at Western Gateway Park in downtown Des Moines. This family friendly event has activities and entertainment for all ages: an elote (corn) eating contest, a health village, an artwork display, a civic engagement tent, two local chefs and more. There also is a children’s area, where kids can makes crafts, break piñatas every hour, play on inflatable rides and watch “Lucha Libre.” There is daylong entertainment from various musical acts, dancers and martial arts performers.
