Ed Moynahan took great pride in his job. Here he is seen with Dynamo Pro Wrestling promoters Jim and Crystal during his second to last job with pro wrestling. The following week he would finish up a great career at MMWA at the historic South Broadway Athletic Club.

Ed Moynahan was one of the longest-tenured inspectors for the Missouri Office of Athletics.  Moynahan retired on October 11, 2014, with his last event at the South Broadway Athletic Club.

Missouri is a state that regulates pro wrestling through its athletic commission.  Ed had been an inspector for the Office since 1994, but his experience in the fight game goes back to 1940.  That was the year, when at age 16, Moynahan first put on a pair of boxing gloves and participated in Golden Gloves amateur boxing.

His passion was boxing, but he was a very familiar face at St. Louis wrestling venues like the SBAC, Stratford Bar & Grill, Off Broadway, and others.  A St. Louisan for life, Moynahan holds a special place in the local wrestling scene.  Dynamo Pro Wrestling media coordinator Luke Roberts explained the connection at Ed’s penultimate event.

“I got my Missouri license through Ed, and that was a long time ago.  I know most of the boys here tonight, even the old timers, filed their papers through him way back in the day,” Roberts said backstage.

In November 2014, a new inspector took the helm at MMWA and Dynamo Pro cards.  There is still someone to make sure blood work and other precautions are on the up-and-up, but there won’t be another Ed Moynahan.  Enjoy Napa Valley.
