Help Bring MsChif to AAPW!!!

Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 29, 2012

Photobucket

From our friends at AAPW

Every time we ask AAPW fans who they want to see brought into the company, MsChif is among one of the most popular responses. Due to constraints, we didn’t think it would be feasible. But now we’ve decided to ask the fans just how much they want to see it. With this IndieGoGo campaign, fans can earn rewards of varying degree for contributing to this venture. Any and all donations are appreciated and will be received with heartfelt thanks.

To learn more or make a donation, visit http://www.indiegogo.com/aapwmschif. For fans unfamiliar with IndieGoGo, those who make donations will not be charged unless the campaign reaches its goal within the designated time limit.

For this effort, we need to raise $500 (the minimum set by the site) in 60 days. Help us make it happen, so we can answer the fans’ demands and bring MsChif to AAPW!

http://www.indiegogo.com/aapwmschif

Short Summary

AAPW brought back women’s wrestling after a four-year absence at January’s “Main Event.” Since that time, women such as Stacey O’Brien, The Great Cheyenne, Rebecca Raze and Serenity have graced the AAPW ring. AAPW fans have been excited to see women’s wrestling return and have highly requested the debut of former SHIMMER Champion MsChif. We’re trying to make that happen!

What We Need & What You Get

This campaign is an opportunity for fans to become even more invested in the AAPW product. The money raised in this campaign will cover expenses related to MsChif’s debut, such as travel fees. In exchange for your gracious contributions, we have lined up a number of sweet rewards. The fundraising goal on this campaign is the minimum the site allows. Any excess funding will be used to provide a quality opponent and atmosphere for MsChif’s debut.

The Impact

You’ll be able to get the debut you’ve been waiting for. When we ask fans who they want to see debut in AAPW, MsChif is always one of the most common responses. We feel that fans who are familiar with her work will be thrilled to see her live, and those fans who don’t know her history will be amazed at her athleticism, flexibility and in-ring skills.

Other Ways You Can Help

If you’re not able to help us financially, we would appreciate your help in spreading word about this campaign and AAPW, in general. Share our social media links and encourage people to watch the AAPW product. While we may not have John Cena or Randy Orton on the roster, we have a locker room full of talent and potential, and you’ll see that on any episode of “Collision” or “All-Access.”

Info and photo credit Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame

Few wrestlers in the United States have been able to match the accomplishments of Bill Smith, who hails from Council Bluffs.

Smith was an excellent wrestler while at Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs, finishing second and third at the state wrestling meet. But it was at the collegiate level and beyond that Smith excelled.

While at the Iowa State Teacher’s College, now know as the University of Northern Iowa, in Cedar Falls, Smith was a two-time NCAA champion and a three-time NAAU champion. He was also named as the “Outstanding Wrestler” in the 1951 National AAU Tournament.

His crowning achievement, however, came in the summer of 1952 when he became the only American to win a gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the summer Olympic Games in Helsinki, Finland.

After his wrestling days were over, a teaching and coaching career followed. He coached at Rock Island (Illinois) High School and led the team to a state championship. Smith then went on to coach at Ann Arbor (Michigan) High School and the University of Nebraska before he was named the athletic director and coach of the Olympic Club in San Francisco, California. During the late 1950’s, his AAU teams won three national titles and several of his athletes went on to earn berths in the 1960 and 1964 Olympic team.

He remains in California after coaching at San Jose State, San Francisco State, Pacifica High School and Clayton Valley High School in Concord.

Smith was inducted into the Iowa High School Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1977 and was named to the Des Moines Sunday Register’s Sports Hall of Fame.

Bill Smith was inducted into the Iowa Wrestling Hall of Fame in 1972.
