Saturday November 15th, WWE Legend “Marty Jannetty” will be the Special Guest at the East Carondelet Community Center in East Carondelet Illinois. This is the first “Veterans Day Bash”. We will be honoring our own Gary Jackson for his 25 years in the Military. Plus SICW title on the line as Champion Tyler Heath Hatton defends it against tough Flash Flanagan. Also you will see a special apperance from Ron Powers, he will be in attendance to answer question regarding the mask man, “Red River Jack”. Former wrestler, promoter, NWA President, and the 2011 MWR Lifetime Achievement recipient Bob Geigel has passed away at the age of 90.

Geigel was an amateur wrestling standout that would later team up with the 8-time NWA World Champion Harley Race to deliver years of memories in and out of the ring in the Central States area, promoting cards while starring in main events.

In 2011, MWR’s Dubray Tallman and I were honored to present Geigel with the 2011 MWR Lifetime Achievement award at his home as a guest of him and his wife Vera. That day will forever go down as one of the highlights of my wrestling involvement.  Geigel took the time to give me a tour of his home filled with photos and mementos, along with stories on each one of them.

We were able to share a couple of hours of enjoyment talking to Bob and Vera about family and wrestling. I also asked for his approval to be a part of the MWR Trading card set with artwork by Rob Schamberger (who had done the artwork for Bob’s plaque). Before I left, he gave me a pocket knife as a gift (that I have in my collection to this day). He told me that though he was just under 90, he kept busy with a job that he had to go to that afternoon, but appreciated the plaque.  I left the house forever grateful of the kindness that he showed throughout the day.

Though Mr. Geigel has passed away, it is refreshing to know that he was loved by his family, had a phenomenal career in the wrestling ring, and found the love of his life in Vera.

We send our condolences to the family and friends of Bob Geigel.

Dynamo Pro Wrestling a victim of theft!  St. Louis’s and Missouri’s most active promotion had its ring and guardrails stolen last week.  Owner Crystal Yount joins us to talk about the details and the plan for their event this weekend.

John Cone is a former WLW Student and one of the best refs in the sport today. Who do you feel is one of the best in the MWR Coverage area?

It is with great pleasure that we will now be having an award for the Best Referee as voted by the fans. I have to say that throughout the years we have been very close with many of the referees in the area. These hard working men have a true love for the sport. At times the job can be a stressful one as the bad guys are always trying to get an edge on the fan favorites to win a match.

Today you will have the opportunity to vote for whom you believe is the 2014 MWR Best Referee. We would like to wish each of these fine men the best of luck as the final ref with the most votes next Tuesday night will be honored with the very first MWR Best referee Award.

Iowa’s very own “The Manager Supreme” Axel Greece has had a great year leading the “The Greece Pit” of L-Ray and Joey Daniels at Pro Wrestling Phoenix took that momentum and came on strong early and led for most of the way to claim the first ever MWR Fans Choice Award for Best Manager.

The “Manager of Champions” Travis Cook has led the Black Hand Warriors, The Professionals  and Ken Kasa to gold at both SICW and Dynamo Pro Wrestling earning hatred at both promotions in 2014 on the way to being named the first runner up. The Sexiest Female of the 2014, Lucy Mendez fans made a run during the last day at the polls to be named second runner up for Best manager as she combine her wrestling skills to a manager proving that she is a double threat at Metro Pro Wrestling, Dynamo Pro Wrestling with the likes of Ricky Cruz and Dan Walsh. Greg Jovi caused havoc this past weekend at PWCS leading his team and Christian Rose to victory and primed to winning the first ever team championship in the red hot promotion, and the fans awarded him as the final runner up in the fans Best Manager.

Once again we would like to thank the fans that came to the site to vote for who they felt was the Best Manager of 2014 and encourage you to vote for who you think is deserving of the 2014 MWR Fans Choice of Referee of the Year.

SICW / MMWA are teaming up to help members of their Wrestling family put their life back together after loosing their home and belonging to a house fire. Jeff and Lisa Foster had a tough year, they lost a child, then a few months later they lost everything. So as former Professional Wrestlers we are helping them try to get on with their life.
