MAGNUM Pro presents: Picking Up The Ball! 10.29.11 Main Event: Jaysin Strife vs Tony Cortez in a Dog Collar Match

Posted by flairwhoooooo on October 25, 2011

The controversy surrounding this match has been well documented. With another promotion in town claiming that MAGNUM Pro stole their match, and that MAGNUM Pro is “classless”, even going so far to just nit pick about the name of the show, Pick Up The Ball. Well, that is exactly what MAGNUM Pro is doing. The history between Tony Cortez and Jaysin Strife isn’t a mystery, you ask either man how they feel about the other and they will tell you that they love the other like a brother, however that is personally. Professionally these two have a score to settle, these two have something to prove. In the midst of what was set to be one of the best rivalries in pro wrestling in this area the plug was pulled for reasons unknown to both competitors. Both men looking forward to stepping into the ring with one another again to settle a score of just who is the best. MAGNUM Pro saw this in these two men, and saw the anticipation in the fans eyes for this match. Strife and Cotez chain together, no running, no escape. When word had gotten out that these men where not going to do battle MAGNUM management stepped up and said that they would host this epic showdown so the fans would get what they have been waiting for. On October 29th, two men will step in the ring to claim a spot that they both feel they deserve. On that night, only one man will have his hand raised as the best.

The debut of P.W.G.!!!

The Pro Wrestling Gorilla will make his debut at Pick Up The Ball. People have wrestled alligators, and bears, and now its time for someone to wrestle a gorilla. This isn’t an ordinary gorilla mind you folks. No opponent has been named as of yet to face P.W.G. as all competitors have steered clear of the big ape. On October 29th be sure you are at the Eagles Club to see who steps up to the challenge of Man vs Beast.

Gunner Franks vs Buck Albright

Gunner Franks has seen action at MAGNUM Pro as many times as Buck Albright has as well. However, Buck has been in the game a bit longer than Gunner. Will experience beat youthful exuberance, or will Gunner’s will to win be able to tackle the more experience Albright? October 29th these two men will clash with similar styles and a level playing field. Who will get the upper hand and be able to have his hand raised in victory at the end? Be there to find out.

Shane Hollister vs Supafli

In what is a highly anticipated match among the MAGNUM Pro staff, Shane Hollister makes his return to MAGNUM since the genesis of MAGNUM this past January. Shane was victorious over Jaysin Strife in his debut match and now he looks to set his sites on the masked luchador Supafli. Both men strike fast, and hungry for a victory. Supafli looking to continue to step up in the company, and Shane is looking to cement his spot in MAGNUM Pro.

Markus Crane vs Knight Wagner vs Donnie Peppercricket vs S.M. King

In familiar fashion MAGNUM Pro brings to you its take on the multi man matches on October 29th. The returning Markus Crane will be in the ring with new comer Knight Wagner, main stay Donnie Peppercricket and a revitalized S.M. King. King is looking for more opportunity to showcase what his time training with ECW star Taz has taught him, and Peppercricket is out looking for a good time as always. This match is sure to be as zany as most multi man matches in MAGNUM Pro are, however Markus Crane is looking to get his spot in MAGNUM Pro and Knight is sure to want to impress management so anything can happen on October 29th at the Eagles Club in Council Bluffs, IA. BE THERE!

WLW Fans have known Matt Murphy, Trevor Murdock, Steve Fender and Bull Schmitt from the very start of WLW. Here they celebrate together one of the great moments at the 2011 WLW/Noah camp show. *Photo Credit Brian Kelley

I never thought I’d live in a world where I’d agree with Justin Bieber, but he was right: Never Say Never.

My professional wrestling career was dead. “All That” Matt Murphy was dead. I was a wrestling junkie who’d been clean for years. And as many stories of addiction go, I had a relapse.

I had been an on-air personality for Metro Pro Wrestling for several months as the commissioner. Some of the fans knew who I was, but to most of them I was just the authority figure who made an occasional appearance during Metro Pro Wrestling’s monthly live events at Turner Rec Center in Kansas City, KS, and on their weekly TV show on Metro Sports.

Then August happened.
