Harmony in the Midwest presents Derek Stone.

Editors Note: The write up for Derek Stones nomination for the 2011  MWR Wrestler of the year was so good I just went ahead and used the bio for this great collage of Derek Stone. – Brian Kelley –Owner and Editor

Derek Stone had an awesome and truly bloody year at Metro Pro Wrestling as he had one great match after another. On January 8th Derek Stone the fan favorite would set the tone for 2011 when he defeated Trevor Murdock in a Last Man Standing Match to become the new Metro Pro Television Champion. The match spilled all over the building in a bloody war.

In March, Stone would retained his Metro Pro TV Title in a Triple Threat Match via DQ after Trevor Murdock used a chair in a match also involving Bull Schmitt. #1 Brett Young would also go down to defeat as Stone continued his winning ways but dark days was to come.

In April, Stone would defeat the 2010 MWR Future Star Award recipient Sir Bradley Charles but would not be happy to see Michael Strider win the first-ever MPW Battle Royal for the shot at the MPW TV Title.
When wrestling returned to the Lawrence Community in Lawrence, Kansas in May Derek Stone would defeat Michael Strider but it would be the ending of the match that would leave a lasting impression that fans would not forget as Stone would leave Strider in a bloody mess and from his actions seemed to have lost all sense of reality in the process. The Locker room would have to be emptied to restrain Stone from doing any more damage to Michael Strider.

In June, the madness of Stone would cost him a match as he was DQ’d against fan favorite Maddog McDowell. Later in the month the downward slide would continue when Michael Strider would defeat Derek Stone to become the new Metro Pro TV Champion.

In July, Commissioner Matt Murphy announced someone had attacked Michael Strider and he was investigating the incident. He made a Fatal Four-Way Match; winner gets a shot at Strider’s Metro Pro TV Title. Prior to the big match Stone would gain momentum when he defeated “The Human Wrecking Ball” Pete Madden (w/ The Magic Man) in a Hardcore Match.

Stone once again showed he was not to be forgotten when he won the Fatal Four-Way Match to become the new No. 1 Contender for the Metro Pro TV Title in August.

In the big match Derek Stone was ready with a trick in his bag when he defeated Michael Strider thanks to interference from Commissioner Matt Murphy, who shocked the Metro fans when he announced that he was back as an active wrestler to become a 2-time Metro Pro Champion.

It would not be till September till the champ would return to a special main event called Eight-Man Tag Teammageddon Match that saw former champ Michael Strider and Bull Schmitt overcome Stone’s team.
Fan favorite and current nemeses would be waiting for him in November in the main event for the MPW title. Stone and Schmitt would go at it with the fans heavily on Bulls side. When the dust cleared and the war went around the building, Derek Stone would once again be a former champion and Bull would capture his first MPW title.

2011 was chaotic and dangerous for any wrestler that stepped in the ring against him.
There is no doubt that Derek Stone had one great match after another and is worthy of being named the 2011 wrestler of the year.

Brandon Espinosa wins the 2011 King of St. Louis Cable Tournament.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on November 16, 2011

In a historic night of wrestling from Lemay Missouri, MMWA presented the fans with the first ever King of ST Louis Cable tournament. The winner of the tournament would not only be named the first ever King of St Louis but also receive a title shot against MMWA Champ Gary Jackson at a later date. Jackson was in the tournament and if he would win, he would be the one to decide who he would face.

In the first round TV Champion Brandon Espinosa was able to overcome the raw power of David Osborne, Phil E. Blunt(w/ Leo) defeated Jr. Heavyweight Champion Johnny Courageous, Battle Royal Champion Dave Vaughn was dominate in a match against Max Archer(substituting for the injured Sean Vincent) with the spear while MMWA Champion Gary Jackson defeated Ace Hawkins via Texas Cloverleaf.

In the second round fans were surprised to see Phil E Blunt give Espinosa the win by staying out of the ring voluntary. Espinosa would not get off so easy as the young and popular LaMarcus Clinton came to the ringside letting Espinosa know that he was wanting a shot at the TV.

Clinton would give it his all but Espinosa has been on fire in 2011 and was able to retain his title with a frog splash.

Back in the second round it was Gary Jackson taking on Dave Vaughn in a battle of two of the best in the area.

Jackson and Vaughn looked to each have a win for themselves in many moments in the match but Jackson would be able use a crucifixed for a quick pinfall.

In the finals, Jackson would take on Espinosa to see who would have the bragging rights. Jackson nearly got Espinosa in the Cloverleaf for the win but Espy rolled him up with a handful of tights for the cheap victory and claim as the2011 King of St. Louis Cable Tournament.

With the win Brandon Espinosa is poised for a shot at Gary Jackson’s MMWA Championship at anytime of his choosing.

Dave Hebner along with his brother current TNA referee Earl is known around the world, as the two had been involved arguably with the biggest angle in the 80’s when the evil Hebner cost Hulk Hogan the WWE title to Andre the Giant.

Who can forget the Montreal Screwjob? The Hebners once again cost another champion the title as Bret Hart was the victim this time as Shawn Michaels took home the belt.

Dave Hebner has refereed around the world, on the biggest stage including Wrestlemania, as well as TNA.

One young lady who was not happy about the card was the Catholic School girl Stacey O’Brien who believes that she is the true superstar featured on the card. See what happens when she notices that she is on the card of wrestling referee greats Dave Hebner’s training card.

Train with 8-time NWA World Champion Harley Race and WWE Hall of Famer Tony Atlas this Saturday in Illinois.

By Brian Kelley

Pro Wrestlers in the St Louis and Central Illinois region you will have a golden opportunity to receive training from the greatest wrestler on Gods Green Earth Harley Race and the one half of the very first black World tag team champions Tony Atlas.

For a measly $100.00 you will be able to get advice from the two men who has traveled around the world selling out building after building. Race currently runs the Harley Race Wrestling Academy in Eldon Missouri and have trained wrestlers and referees that have gone on to star in both WWE and Japans Pro Wrestling Noah. Current student Brian Breaker has toured Pro Wrestling Noah in Japan and wrestled for WWE in St Louis during their last tour of the Midwest.

Tony Atlas himself is no slouch, in 2011 one of his students Luke Robinson would be a contestant on WWE’S Tough Enough, coming up as a runner up in the contest.

Take pride in yourself and respect your fans and improve your game by taking part in this special training camp.

The best in the sport is always looking to improve themselves, one of the hottest stars in Ring of Honor’s Michael Elgin took part once again in 2011. Though he is on ROH Tv, Elgin is smart enough to know that you can never continue to improve. So if you are taking part of a wrestling school, there is no shame in getting advice from 2 of the very best.

Fans in Illinois will also have a rare opportunity to check out Harley Race’s World League Wrestling in action when they come to Centralia Illinois and MT Vernon with WLW Champion Jason Jones, Womens Champ Lucy Mendez, Tap champs Jeff Strong and Jack Gamble and all the rising stars in his camp in 2011.
