Executive Producer Chris Hagstrom suffers concussion, orbital bone injury.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on September 24, 2012

All American Pro Wrestling Executive Producer Chris Hagstrom has been released from the hospital following an incident at the Saturday, Sept. 22, “Collision” taping.

Hagstrom was inadvertently struck by Edmund “Livewire” McGuire during a contract signing for the AAPW Heavyweight Championship match between McGuire and champion Mike Masters.

Reviewing the tape told AAPW officials the whole story, and the incident is under review. Owner Sean Chambers said he has no comment at this time.

The footage of the contract signing will be released on Episode 24 of “Collision,” which debuts Oct. 6.

Hagstrom was taken by ambulance to a local hospital following the incident. He was diagnosed as having suffered a concussion and re-aggravated a pre-existing orbital bone injury.

On Sunday morning, Hagstrom told AAPW officials that he’s still in a tremendous amount of pain and that while he graciously accepts the well wishes of all the fans, he plans to remain out of the public eye for the time being.

He also wanted to thank the fans for their continued support of AAPW and express ensure them there will be retribution for the responsible party.

Everyone in the AAPW office and locker room send their thoughts and best wishes to our friend and colleague as he recovers.

AAPW returns to action Oct. 20 for “Zero Hour,” our sixth-anniversary event, and a benefit for the American Cancer Society. Stay tuned for more details.

MWR -AAPW Summer Chaos DVD (Two-Disc Set) Review

Posted by flairwhoooooo on September 23, 2012

I was thrilled to get my hands on the brand new AAPW Summer Chaos DVD recently to check out the company’s second offering to the fans. Their first super show DVD was very exciting January’s Main Event that featured Colt Cabana, PAC and El Generico. Fans can check out MWR’S review of the DVD here as well as purchase it here along with other great AAPW merchandise.

In what can only be described as absolute chaos, Mike Masters won the AAPW Heavyweight Championship from Edmund “Livewire” McGuire in controversial fashion. Own this historic show on DVD!

Truk Thompson vs. Benjamin Boone

The first time I had ever seen Benjamin Boone who surprisingly can match the size of Super heavyweight Truck Thompson. As a fan of big men in the sport, I have to say that Thompson has always been impressive in my eyes. I would love to see him further his training some more with Harley Race later this year during the WLW/WWE/NOAH camp. Commentator Kevin Hunsperger states at the end of the match that “he (Thompson) could very well be the future of AAPW” and with the statement of Thompsons win over Boone I have to agree.

Serenity vs. The Great Cheyenne

Photobucket

The Great Cheyenne will stop at nothing.- Photo Credit Brian Kelley

The Great Cheyenne brings to the ring memories of Luna Vachon in her actions and demeanor. Serenity is one of the rising young stars in the Midwest today. As a big supporter of good women’s wrestling I have to say I have been very pleased with the efforts of AAPW to deliver the likes of the 2011 MWR Wrestler of the Year Stacey O’Brien, Rebecca Raze, Serenity and the Great Cheyenne in 2012. Though Serenity is getting better with each match the intensity mixed with the sheer power of the Great Cheyenne would be too much for most young stars to handle. THE great Cheyenne is very impressive when she lands a high risk move from the top rope for the big win.

No Limits Fatal 4-Way

KC Jackson vs. Sean Vincent vs. Joey O’Riley vs. Jay Spade

AAPW has done a great job of providing the fans with various types of wrestling. Fans as well as the announcers would have to keep their eyes on the match or else they could very well miss something. They call this the No limits Division and several of the top lightweights have been contacting the AAPW office to have a chance to make an impact at AAPW. A very interesting storyline between two fan favorites and tag team partners Joey O’ Riley and Jay Spade. Prior to the huge Supershow they have been at odds due to their miscommunication in their matches in tag team action. In this match it would be every man for himself so how it would play out gave some suspense in the match.

Two of the other men came in with the match with a ton more experience than Spade and Riley, as KC Jackson one half of one of AAPW’S greatest tag team with the Mississippi Madman and the  other is the “Canadian Hero” Sean Vincent. Vincent is one of the most underrated wrestlers in the Midwest and has something going for him that most wrestlers today, don’t and that is an identity. The fans quickly hate him because of course we love the USA and have to book all others. While so many young stars have some awesome moves, look great and have some real good talent, many of them are so bland that you forget who they are as soon as they hit their 360 upside cartwheel spinning…..ok whatever they do. Vincent, though can pull out some solid moves when needed but knows when to deliver them for the most impact during the match.

A fun filled match that spotlights the characters of Spade and O’Riley and KC Jackson comes out of the shadow of the Madman to pick up a \big win.

Six-Man Tag Team Showcase

Matt Cross, Kyle Sykes, & Farmer Billy Hills vs. Mark Sterling, Sir Bradley Charles, & Chase King

An injury to a member on each team gave a young wrestler the opportunity to work with a couple of the best talents on the Independent circuit today. First with the injury to Jeremy Wyattt, Chase King step up to team with the former “MWR Wrestler of the Year” Mark Sterling and the first ever “MWR Future Star” recipient in Sir Bradley Charles, while young Kyle Sykes step up for the injured Gregory Irons to team up with Farmer Hills and Matt Cross.

Sterling can flat out wrestle and arguably considered the the top wrestler during the MWR years in the coverage area, and if you ask me he is even better in tag or this case a six man tag match. One glaring trend for AAPW is that the fans love the Farmer. Awww the identity or otherwise known as the gimmick we were talking about before. This was a solid match with some exciting high spots that kept the fans in tune throughout the whole match.

Justice vs. Bull Bronson

Photobucket

Two undefeated contenders collided in this match. The second disc starts out with a fun video showcasing the raw power of the man known as Bull Bronson. The video also shows Justice stepping up to the plate to try to derail the juggernaut Bronson.

A great effort from Justice as he delivered a powerful clothesline that sent Bronson to the mat. At the end of the day Bronson continues his dominance over the AAPW roster. Could a manager for Bronson be what he needs to be even more annoying that before? In fact , Bull is pretty believable on the mic and a match with the popular Mississippi Madman is teased.

AAPW Tag Team Championship Match

Minor Threat vs. Team Overkill

The current MWR Wrestler of the Year Brandon Espinosa and PWI’S Rookie of the Year Ace Hawkins teams up to take on Matt Cage (one half of the 2011 MWR Tag Team of the year with Alex Castle) and the man who gets better every time we see him Christian Rose. Two of the top tag teams in the Midwest go at it full steam.

Tag team wrestling the way it is meant to be is showcased throughout the match with an ending that makes you want to see more of this feud.

Heath Hatton vs. Ax Allwardt

Photobucket

Hatton was able to survive this brutal move from Allwardt to win the match and set him up for a match with the NWA Worlds Champion Adam Pearce- Photo Credit Brian Kelley

Ax Allwardt is challenged by the hottest AAPW star today, Heath Hatton . Allwardt is seconded by the manager Gaylord Stevens and looking to rebound from his “Main Event” loss to champion Edmund McGuire. Hatton the hometown star has no love for Alwardt and the action is fast and furious from the start.

Stevens knows when to make his presence known and Ax can bring the old school wrestling with the best of them. Good camera work as Allwardt painfully chokes Hatton with the boots in the corner then masterfully distracts the ref as Stevens uses his umbrella to do the same.

Hatton takes a beating and withstands a beautiful top rope suplex to get the well-deserved win that gives him the momentum and confidence to challenge for the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship on September 22nd at AAPW in Marion, Illinois.

AAPW Heavyweight Championship Match

Edmund “Livewire” McGuire vs. Mike Masters

Photobucket

What happened ? Buy the DVD to see the shocking ending.- Photo Credit Brian Kelley

They start off with a very good highlight video catching the old fans and new ones on the controversial Mike Masters as he goes after Edmund “Livewire” McGuire’s AAPW title.

To say this is a grudge match would be an understatement. Masters hit a fan and was sent packing only to have promoter Sean Chambers reinstate him so that McGuire could get his hands on him.

Edmund is ready for a fight and brings it much to the delight of the fans that are on their feet at Harley Davidson Black Diamond arena. The two go at it with a vengeance with chairs, camera cases and much more in this No DQ battle.

The chain events at the end bring are very shocking and leads you to want to see the season of AAPW’S Collision.

Highlights on the show and DVD-

Awesome photography is featured from Jason Wilkey for the cover art as well as on both of the DVDs.

Love the instant replays!

I enjoyed the promos from the wrestlers, while there not on the level of the Rock or CM Punk, with AAPW allowing their stars mic time, it allows them to get better. One lesson for some could be, sometimes a shorter promo can get the point more across than a long one.

Join the fans of AAPW this month on Oct 20th for a great cause !!!! = Photo Credit Brian Kelley

Thoughts: Once again AAPW delivers a DVD worthy of $15.00. The announcers and wrestlers do an excellent job of making the matches feel as if they are PPV or a Clash of the Champions atmosphere.

Price: Only $15.00

RingSyders: The Biggest Atrocities!

Posted by flairwhoooooo on September 23, 2012

You need to listen to RingSyders Sunday from 5-7pm on PartyAnimalRadio.com. Ben Simon, Mikey G and Drew Abs host the best of the worst!

Over the past 100 years, pro wrestling has had its awful moments. We go around the table to discuss our Top 5 Biggest Atrocities in Wrestling History!

Where does the Fingerpoke of Doom rank? What about Black Saturday in 1984? We just can’t omit Katie Vick! Also, Ben Simon takes “history” quite literally and goes way back with his picks. His #1 will surprise you, as it’s the biggest scam in wrestling today, just as it was in 1955.

Is the National Wrestling Alliance on the verge of collapse? After the new management’s regulations, more territories have withdrawn from the sanctioning body.

This episode was recorded on Friday, so we don’t know what happened during the fights on Saturday. Don’t forget that the first-ever flyweight world champion of MMA will be crowned by Sunday after UFC 152!

Can’t listen live 5-7 on Sundays? We are now uploading recorded episodes at PartyAnimalRadio.com.

MWR fan’s Shane Cooper letter to Harley Race.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on September 23, 2012

Editor’s note: I Just got back from WLW in Richmond Missouri for another fun time with a hot crowd featuring Harley Race’s WLW students including WLW Champion Jason Jones, Mark Sterling, Ryan Drago, and the debut of the Stacey O show with the current MWR Female Wrestler of the Year Stacey O’Brien.

While the night was filled with some very young talented wrestlers lead by Jack Gamble, I received this letter from a MWR fan that asked me to print out his letter with a request to one of the greatest wrestlers of all-time Harley Race.

—–

Mr. Harley Race,

I am a life long wrestling fan, and I have been a fan of World League Wrestling since it’s inception. I remember very well going to the first WLW show at the Eldon High School Gym with the special guest being Disco Inferno and local wrestlers with names like the Drill Instructor and Tiger Mask, who coincidentally I remember he had gotten injured at the show which led you to let that be a lesson to all the younger members of the audience to not try these things at home, a true act of class for you in my opinion.

As I stated I grew up on wrestling. Anytime I had a chance to see it on tv, I was watching. And through World League Wrestling I have been blessed enough to have the honor to meet the legends I grew up watching, have a picture with them, shake their hand, get an autograph and sometimes even get to talk for just a brief moment with them. Brutus Beefcake, Bret Hart, Vader, Randy Savage(RIP), Mick Foley, Lex Luger, Ted Dibiasie, Jimmy Snuka, Terry Funk, Dusty Rhodes, and Hacksaw Jim Duggan are all in a book of autographs I have collected over the years. Heroes of my youth and I was able to meet them all, with thanks to you and the hard work you have put into entertaining me, a wrestling fan.

Over recent years, when I have turned on the tv to watch wrestling, I have been able to see guys who had worked for World League Wrestling in the early years of their career such as CM Punk, Ted Dibiasie Jr, Trevor Murdoch and more. Legends of the future on tv today, and I was able to see them in the beginning of their career, with thanks to you and the hard work you have put into keeping me coming back to be entertained as a wrestling fan.

I am also proud to say that from the beginning of this organization and continuing into today, the shows are kept clean enough that it can be family entertainment. People can bring their children without fear of foul language or lewd conduct. In today’s society, that’s hard to find. For the price I pay for a ticket, I get 3 to 4 hours of entertainment for half the price I would pay for a movie ticket, which lasts half the time, and I’m not allowed to yell at the movie screen.

All these things being said, as very true as they are, I do have one request. Please put on more shows. I love going to the WLW shows and the entertainment is outstanding. Whether there is a special guest or if it’s just a wrestling show in which I get to see future legends in the making, I love to see the live shows in Eldon. I hope that I am not stepping out of bounds saying so, but I believe these men and women who are chasing their dream of entertaining us want to do so more often, and I believe that us as fans would absolutely love to have more shows to be able to go to, so we can cheer, boo, and experience all the great things that are World League Wrestling.

Sincerely,

Shane Cooper – Wrestling Fan
