By Brian Kelley

Make no doubt about that the NWA World Champion Adam Pearce is the most influential NWA World champion since the “Nature Boy” Ric Flair. Missouri Wrestling Revival was on hand in Des Moines, Iowa as he defended his title against the NWA Central States Champion Jeremy Wyatt.

In a packed house, with many of the top sports photographers in the Midwest as well as Pro Wrestling Illustrated own Wayne McCarty shooting photos, you had to be there. The reason being that many felt it could be an historic night for Jeremy Wyatt as he would add the “ten pounds of Gold” to his collection.

The two warriors battled in and out of the ring at a vicious pace. Pearce would show his power early on as he looked to easily avoid Wyatt’s feared crossface finisher.

Photobucket

In and out of the ring the men battled for the most prestigious belt ever in wrestling. (Photo Credit Brian Kelley)

Wyatt though is a master tactician who systematically took Pearce off his game, hitting him high with flying body crosses and continued to try to lock in the crossface.

The rabid fans were on their feet screaming and pleading for Wyatt to capture the title. One moment would change the match, as 3XW head referee Jeromy Robb was in the corner out of the way, only to find himself in knocked out moments later as Pearce and Wyatt went full force in his direction thus knocking Robb out.

Photobucket

Moments later Wyatt locked in the cross face once again and Pearce tapped but with no ref to make the call it was all for naught.. Then it happened, Wyatt’s arch rival and 3XWrestling Champion Mark Sterling came out to interfere in the match. Wyatt, would derail Sterling’s attempt with a stiff blow and went back on the attack on the World Champion.

Problem was that Sterling had given the champion the time to get back on the offense, and Pearce had Wyatt where he wanted him. Sterling, though could not help himself and attempted to nail his vicious spear on Wyatt only to have Wyatt move at the last moment. You could see Pearce’s eyes roll back in his head as he had been annihilated with one of the most brutal spears ever from the “Iron Man” Mark Sterling.

Photobucket

Wyatt would take out Sterling and threw him out of the ring, and seconds later 3XW second referee Steve Biley entered the ring as Wyatt went for the cover for the win.

1-2-3

BOOM, The roof at ALL-Play exploded as the fans came to their feet. To be honest the last time I felt that feeling was when I was in St Louis for the Cardinals playoff game against the Philadelphia Phillies at Busch stadium. The place rocked as cards reliever Jason Motte had Phillies third baseman Placido Polanco with 2 strikes in the 9th inning. Then with one more pitch  Motte ended the game as Polanco flied out to center for the final out of game 4 and allowing the Cards to make it to game 5 of the first round of the NL Playoffs.

I could barely hear myself think, at ringside as fans were elated with happiness. 3XW announcer Daryl Moon shouted loudly on the mic that drinks for everyone was on the house from the NEW NWA World Champion Jeremy Wyatt. A promise that Wyatt had made prior to the match via the media and facebook.  As Wyatt held onto the NWA World Championship title, he knew he would be out over 250 plus drinks but would be celebrating with the prestigious ten pounds of gold around his waist.

Photobucket

So it would seem.

As head ref Jeremy Robb came to he told the referee that made the three count that, the match was indeed reversed decision as Robb would state that the he saw Wyatt Sterling hitting Pearce with the spear thus disqualifying Wyatt.

Pearce was knocked out as Sterling celebrated outside of the ring with a smile ear to ear. Rightfuly so  Wyatt was furious dove head first onto Sterling, and the two brawled through the crowd as Wyatt looked to get revenge. The deciding factor would be the  NWA World Champion Adam Pearce who sneaked attacked Wyatt from the back.

There was nothing that Wyatt or the furious 3XW faithful could do as two of the best wrestlers in the world continued a brutal beat down on the NWA Central States Champion.

In one of the most disgusting acts I have ever seen Sterling locked in his Markshooter while Adam Pearce taunted Wyatt with the belt claiming that he would never be able to be the Worlds Champion.

Photobucket

At the end of the night Wyatt proved that he was more than capable of being the best in the world, and as the NWA World Champion Adam Pearce lays his head down tonight he will know he got away with one in Des Moines Iowa at 3XW.

Yet, the champ is not home free yet in the Midwest as the NWA World Champion continues his impressive world tour as he travels to Council Bluffs, Iowa tomorrow night for Magnum Pro Wrestling. His opponent is non other than “Baby face “ Tony Cortez, a man who is just as capable to become the NWA Worlds Champion.

MWR will be there, to cover the NWA World Champion Adam Pearce once again as he enters a hostial environment where Cortez is a local legend.

We hope you join us for Magnum Pro Wrestling’s one year anniversary for a night of action that you will not want to forget!!

Will the Belt Collector Jeremy Wyatt defeat Adam Pearce to become the NWA World Champion?

Info help from the book “A retrospective by Roger Deem Mat Photographer

This Friday at 3XWrestling the former MWR Wrestler of the Year Jeremy Wyatt will take on the NWA World Champion Adam Pearce in Des Moines at ALL-Play.

Fans have been e-mailing me, texting and calling me the past two weeks with the same question. Can Wyatt actually defeat Pearce for the title?  One fan stated that they saw Pearce had title defenses after the 3XWrestling card and felt like it was just going to be another match . That my friends is normal, the Champion in the past has always had dates lined up to defend the title.

Take a look back On September 17, 1981, when Ric Flair reached the top of the mountain when he beat Dusty Rhodes for his first NWA World Heavyweight Championship. At the time Rhodes was on tour to defend the belt, and after that night Flair was to take over Rhodes title matches.

NWA President Sam Muchnick quickly contacted Flair to let him know that the then champ Rhodes was to defend the title against Harley Race on Oct 2nd at the Checkerdome. Flair always the fighting champion agreed to the take the title defense that the old champion had agreed upon. Therefor the title match was changed to the new NWA World Champ Ric Flair defending the title against Harley Race.

The postcard mailed to ST Louis Wrestling subscribers announcing the title change.

So wrestling fans there you have it, has it been done before? Yes.

How will the NWA brass deal with such a change as the next night in Magnum Pro Wrestling NWA World Champion Adam Pearce is set to defend the NWA title against Tony Cortez?

Will it be NWA World Champion Jer,emy Wyatt defending the title against a former foe in Tony Cortez, or will it be Wyatt vs Pearce 2, or even a three way with the new NWA Champ Wyatt, Pearce and Cortez?

There is an international crisis in the Midwest in April as the “Tokyo Monster” Kahagas returns!!

Wrestlers around the Midwest are on red alert as we speak due to the announcement that the world wide superstar Kahagas will once again return on April 6th in Glen Carbon, Illinois for NWA Dynamo Pro Wrestling then the very next night in Kansas City, Kansas with NWA Metro Pro Wrestling.

It has been since October 16th, 2010 that Kahagas has terrorized the area during a run as the High Voltage Wrestling Champion. A feud that saw him have classic battles with the best have to offer including Dingo, Flash Flanagan, Bloody Harker Dirge, and the KC Killers( Jeremy Wyatt and Mark Sterling).

During IWA-MidSouth’s last attempt at the Ted Petty tournament, the company decided to have a try-out for aspiring wrestlers. MWR was on hand as “Tokyo Monster” walked in the building, you could see the fear in the eyes of the wrestlers as they scurried around to find out if they had drawn the unlucky number to take on the Superstar.

When the dust settled of over twenty one matches that night , Kahagas entered the main event and stole the show with a win and along with a standing ovation from the fans with chants of “Please come back”. The IWA-Midsouth promoter was so impressed he invited “Tokyo Monster” to take part in round one of the IWA-Midsouth Ted Petty tournament against the future Ring of Honor World Champion Roderick Strong.

Though the tournament or match would never happen, the legend of Kahagas continued to grow.

Time has gone by but nothing has changed as Kahagas have been on tours of Carlos Colons World Wrestling Council in Puerto Rico, been to the Dominican Republic and traveled up and down the east and west coast. Videos and photos of Kahagas have been pouring into the MWR office that proved that he was pounding his opponents into submission while having fans run for cover.

Feuds and matches with the very best have only made the man more dangerous. WWE,TNA and ROH stars have not been safe as he has went to battle with Jay Lethal, Sabu, Scotty 2 Hotty, Low Ki, Michael Tarver, Kevin Thorn, Tatanka, and the veteran Cuban Assassin.

In Texas, he went to the finals of the first ever GWT tournament that had legends vote on the matches. Wrestling greats that were on hand for the voting process were Harley Race, Killer Karl Kox, Iceman King Parson, Stan “The Lariat” Hansen, and Jake Roberts to name just a few.

When it was announced that the NWA Junior World title was vacated and a tournament was to be done to crown, Kahagas was among the first one wanting a shot at the title, promising to bring respect, recognition and honor to the belt once more.

Photobucket

The NWA National Heavyweight Champion has shown up with a blood lust. Duane Long Photographer— NWA Ring Warriors

The NWA wisely saw the talents in the Tokyo Monster and instead of the NWA Junior title; he was offered a golden opportunity at the NWA National Champion Chance Prophet.

Chance Prophet has been the NWA National Champion since February 19, 2011. The prestigious NWA National title has a rich history starting with the very first champion Jack Brisco  who defeated Terry Funk in the finals of a tournament on October 1980. Since then great men like Buzz Sawyer, Paul Orndorff, Wahoo McDaniel, Ted DiBiase and one of the original Four Horsemen Tully Blanchard have all held the title.

Photobucket

The Tokyo Monster wants Chance Prophet to try a little filet of sole! Duane Long Photographer—NWA Ring Warriors

The toughest challenge to date for the NWA National Champion Chance Prophet has been the Tokyo Monster who has been stalking him as of late meeting him twice at NWA Ring Warriors. The action has been so intense that in only their second meeting ever NWA Ring Warriors demanded that the match be contained with lumberjacks surrounding the ring. Still no one was safe as the match was called off due to a Double Disqualification, after referee Bruce Michaels was assaulted by a chair that left him bleeding.

Photobucket

The Kahagas-Prophet match ends in another double disqualification as a dazed and bloody referee Bruce Michaels is helped from ringside. Duane Long Photographer

The next NWA Ring Warriors card will be in Fort Lauderdale at the National Guard Armory on Thursday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. Titled “Battle of the Belts,” the event will kick off South Florida’s WrestleMania weekend which includes shows and events from Ring of Honor, Dragon Gate and WrestleReunion.

Larry Brannon has set in motion to end the chaos once and for all as the NWA National Heavyweight Champ Chance Prophet will clash one more time with The Tokyo Monster Kahagas, except this time it will be in a Steel Cage and the only way to win is for one of the competitors to climb out of the cage.

Not only will there be two NWA officials at ringside, but former three-time NWA World Tag Team Champions, the New Heavenly Bodies (“Vivacious” Vito DeNucci and “Casanova” Chris Nelson) will serve as special enforcement referees for the match.

Then less than a week later one of the most traveled wrestlers in the world today, “The Tokyo Monster” Kahagas will return to the Midwest on April 6th and April 7th. If Kahagas should defeat Chance Prophet for the NWA National title, this will be among the first title defenses for the new champ.

Regardless, a man who has been in main events around the world returns from his year and half absence in the Midwest to once again.

Don’t miss the man who ran Godzilla out of Tokyo, Kahagas.

The first show of the year for MWR was at All American Pro Wrestling where the fans were hanging from the rafters. The AAPW card appropriately named “Main Event” was filled with stars around the world and in the Midwest.

We were thrilled to be in Marion, Illinois on that night as AAPW supported MWR as Dubray Tallman presented Stacey O’Brien with the 2011 MWR Female Wrestler of the Year plaque. During the award presentation O’Brien’s rival and opponent Rebecca Raze took offense to the honor that was bestowed upon O’Brien and attacked her as she was thanking the fans.

Thankfully, Dubray Tallman was able to get out of the ring without any injuries as the Irish Catholic schoolgirl was on the defense early on in her first match of 2012. Quickly the AAPW fans rocked the house to try to help O’Brien get on the offense.

Raze delivered an impressive showing against her arch rival but she soon found out that the women she met four years ago had improved greatly under the watchful eye of Harley Race.

Much to the fans delights Stacey O’Brien would capture her very first win of 2012 in her debut at All American Pro Wrestling.

2008 Stacey O’Brien

Early in their time as undergraduate students at Iowa State, Matt Erickson and Terry Sindelar were in the same marketing class. They didn’t know each other at the time.

Just a few short years later, Erickson and Sindelar found themselves inside a wrestling ring in front of 200 people, attached by connecting dog collars.

“The crowd was extremely into it,” said Erickson, who performs under the name Casanova. “That dog collar match is one of my favorite matches of all time. Everything came off exactly how we wanted it to.”
