Metro Pro’s Summer just got a little hotter. On Saturday, August 27, we’ll be having a stand-alone event at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, KS (Home of the Kansas City T-Bones). Wrestling coming to
CommunityAmerica Ballpark
KANSAS CITY, Kan. — While the Kansas City T-Bones are playing at Gary SouthShore on August 27, a different sport will be seen at CommunityAmerica Ballpark, as the stadium will be the site of Metro Pro Wrestling matches that night, the club announced today.
WWE Hall of Famer “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan and former WWE/ECW superstar Tommy Dreamer are two of the big names scheduled to appear. Duggan will be competing in a tag team match, while Dreamer will be in a “Falls Count Anywhere in the Ballpark” match. The rest of the card consists of professional wrestlers from Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, Iowa, Oklahoma and South Dakota, including Derek Stone, “The Fittest Wrestler in the World” Mark Sterling, “Yoga Monster” Mike Sydal, Ace Steel, Redwing, Devin Thomas, The Commission, Kobra Kai Dojo, The Riegel Twins, “Lovely” Lucy Mendez and many more.
“Kansas City, Kansas has such a rich history with professional wrestling at Memorial Hall that we’re really excited to bring this fun event to our park and the Legends area overall,” said T-Bones vice-president and general manager Chris Browne. “The Metro Pro Wrestling folks put on a great show and it will be fun event for our fans, and maybe it’ll introduce new people to our park and experience.”
Metro Pro Wrestling, which is the brainchild of Chris Gough, is celebrating its sixth anniversary. Most Metro Pro Wrestling events take place at the Turner Rec Center in Kansas City, Kan.
“The excitement of doing a stand-alone, outdoor show at CommunityAmerica Ballpark is something we never thought we’d get the chance to do,” Gough said, “but thanks to Chris Browne and the T-Bones, that opportunity worked out this year.”
Time Warner Cable SportsChannel will record the show for future use. The event starts at 7 p.m.General admission tickets are $16.50, with limited front row seats available for $22. Tickets for children ages 5-12 years old are $11, and younger than 5 years old can enter for free. There will be a pre-show VIP meet-and-greet with the wrestlers for an additional charge.
