2014 MWR Wrestler of the Year Finalists

From MWR Editor Brian Kelley

After 6 hours plus this week I have done the homework and research on the MWR Annual Awards for Wrestler of the Year. We are blessed in the Midwest to have some wonderful men and women to entertain us each and every week at a promotion near you. This year the men that have been getting a huge push for the award has been very close. I took the time to list every match that we are aware of in the MWR coverage area. I have included key statistics such as promotions worked, matches, titles, and main events. Please note that sometimes we struggle to get results for matches and there may have been a mistake on the results.

The qualifications for the official awards are not etched in stone, but unlike the fans choice awards it is not given to the wrestler who is the most popular or even who MWR believes is the best wrestler. Still the wrestler of the year is given to a man that made an impact to the promoters, the fans and hopefully the draw to the event they were a part of. Wins and losses against quality competition does matter more so than matches wrestled. Still a man that wrestled a lot is in demand due to his reputation of being trustworthy and his ability to wrestle a good match. The main events is an important factor of the equation, but as we have seen in the past a wrestler can win the award due to not his participation in main events or titles won, but due to his impact on the wrestling scene.

Sometimes we see wrestlers move to the next level such as ROH, WWE or even Japan and just because they do that does not mean they will win this award. At MWR we celebrate that fact that these men and women find success outside the area as it is our goal to support others in their dreams to make a living outside the area. Yes, working in those areas could be a deciding factor in this award, but we are looking for the guy that is the wrestler of the year for this year.

Each year it is very hard to decide on who the wrestler of the year and there is no doubt that out of all these guys ( and other awards) only one person will win.

As we get other highlights in for these wrestlers we will be adding them on this resume.

We are proud of the past MWR Award winners in the past and we feel as this year the list of wrestlers are very worthy thus making the decision very difficult. Please send feedback on who you believe and why at flairwhoooooo@yahoo.com
