Battle of Richmond
War of Wrestling – 2014
World League Wrestling is happy to announce its return to Richmond, Missouri at the Richmond Community Center! Saturday, April 19th, the superstars of WLW return to the area to provide the quality wrestling action that this company has been known to provide while also raising awareness and benefit for a young man by the name of Evan Andrews.
Evan is just over a year old now, with a heart condition that has kept him hospitalized for the majority of his life. His condition is life-threatening, and every day is a struggle, but Harley Race and World League Wrestling are bringing the best wrestling in the Midwest to town to help him and his family as much as possible.
On March 1st, WLW had scheduled this event to take place, but had to reschedule due to imminent weather that had hit the entire state of Missouri. Now scheduled to take place on April 19th, we are ready to bring the action!
Matches for this event will include a 3-way dance for the WLW Ladies Championship with Stacey O’Brien, Ms. Natural, and Devyn Nicole. 2 out of the 3 competitors in the match are former champions, that being Stacey O’Brien and Ms. Natural. Devyn Nicole is the current ladies champion, defeating Stacey O’Brien on March 14th in Otterville, MO to win the title. Now, odds are stacked heavily against the Nicole as she steps into the ring with 2 ladies that have their eyes set on the same gold that she wears around her waist.
In a Richmond rematch from our event on February 15th, Richmond native John E. Rock will go one-on-one with Raphael King. Rock and King participated in a hard-fought match that ended with a bulldog from Rock. Now, King seeks revenge and looks to even the score with the Richmond Rebel as April 19th approaches.
The current, reigning and defending WLW Tag Team Champions, the Black Hand Warriors, were originally scheduled to take on High Level Enterprise. In March, Jon Webb (1/2 of High Level Enterprise) was presented with an opportunity to participate in a training program overseas, with him being scheduled to leave April 10th. This obviously has taken Webb out of the equation of the match, as well as his tag team partner Jack Gamble. Now, the WLW Tag Team Champions have issued a statement saying that they will challenge anybody on the WLW roster that evening in Richmond.
Speaking of Jack Gamble, he will be wrestling WLW newcomer Jamell Harris. Harris made his debut in late 2013. He has been impressing WLW officials and wrestlers both to the extent of having Jack Gamble issue a challenge to Harris. The challenge has been extended and accepted, and there is no doubt that this match will be exciting and will have fans on the edge of their seat.
The main event for the evening will have WLW Heavyweight Champion Elvis Aliaga defending his coveted title against Leland Race. Aliaga, who had won the Heavyweight gold in Richmond last year, has been on a streak as of late defeating the likes of Brian Breaker and Jack Gamble. On December 7th, 2013, Race had challenged Aliaga to a match at the next event in Richmond with WLW fan favorite “Robman” Kinnard as the special guest referee. The stakes are high and there is a lot of attention geared towards this main event match-up!
The WLW president and owner, the 8-Time NWA World’s Heavyweight Champion Harley Race will be in attendance that evening to preside over the event and meet the fans of the World League Wrestling Empire.
Tickets can be purchased at Academy Bank in Wal-Mart (Richmond, MO), Richmond, MO Collectors Office, and Richmond, MO Chamber of Commerce. Tickets can also be purchased online at www.harleyrace.com/onlineticketstore.htm. Prices for tickets include $10 per ticket for general admission, and $15 per ticket for ringside.
