Questions a plenty at SICW as the huge 7/20/13 show in East Carondelet, Illinois is right around the corner.

Posted by flairwhoooooo on July 9, 2013

SICWIs this the moment Chas Wesson has dreamed of? Can he dethrone Ironman Ken Kasa as the Classic Wrestling Champion when Chas and Kasa collide Saturday, July 20 on the SICW card at the East Carondelet Community Center?

Of course, it’s a huge moment for Kasa too as the Ironman makes his first defense of the Classic crown since knocking off Ricky Cruz June 15. Travis Cook, Kasa’s manager, vows to have Kasa at his peak for the July 20 test with Chas, who trained with Shawn Michaels and is one tough cookie who knows how to win.

But there’s more – a whole lot more.

The list of contenders for the Classic title is growing as the remainder of the July 20 lineup demonstrates.

In particular, the tag team co-feature sends Cruz and Chris Hargas against Ron Powers and Flash Flanagan. As former champs, Powers and Cruz want a shot at whoever is on top after Kasa faces Chas. Flanagan nearly captured the crown when he battled Cruz at the Argosy Casino in May, and Hargas upset Flash on a count-out in East Carondelet June 15.

So everyone in the tag affair has a reasonable claim for a title shot – and nobody has any love lost for each other to begin with! According to Powers, Kasa wouldn’t be the champion if – earlier in the evening June 15 – Powers hadn’t nailed Cruz with a piledriver. Flash claims he should have been the champ then anyhow.

Cruz is seething and vows to regain the Classic title as soon as possible.

Don’t forget how, not all that long ago, Powers broke up an arm wrestling contest with Hargas by attacking Chris with a chair. Hargas has long felt he should have a title shot as well.

Plus everyone wants to know does Travis have any relation whatsoever with either or both of Flanagan and Powers.

In addition July 20, Adam Raw has a great opportunity as he meets Mr. Unpredictable, Dave Vaughn. Gary Jackson and The Big Texan (what IS his deal with Cook?)clash. Bobby D puts his win streak on the line against Alexander Rudolph. Heath Hatton is back. So is Shorty Biggs. And there’s more . . .

The midgets end a long absence as Little Cato opposes Beautiful Bobby Dean.

And What About August 9-10 at the GCS Ballpark?
And What About Travis Cook’s rampage?

Whatever happens July 20 will affect the lineup for when the Gateway Grizzlies Celebrate Wrestling’s Legends August 9 and 10 at the GCS Ballpark. In wrestling under the stars August 10, there will definitely be a Classic title match and a one-night Grizzlies’ Grand Masters tournament.

On top of everything, Travis Cook vows he and his crew including Vaughn will cut someone’s hair again July 20. Promoter Herb Simmons says that Herb won’t let that happen. Their dispute becomes nastier every day. The latest is that Travis is challenging – or is it threatening – to get Herb in a situation where Travis shaves Herb bald in the middle of the ring.

And keep in mind all the details at the gorgeous GCS Ballpark August 9 and 10. At the game August 9, Jerry “The King” Lawler throws out the first pitch. Then fans can join not only Lawler, but also Harley Race, Ken Patera, Baron Von Raschke, Larry Matysik and The Rock’s father – alltime great Rocky Johnson in the VIP Room at the stadium.

The next night – Saturday, August 10 – is that blockbuster card under the stars at the GCS Ballpark.

The ingredients are coming together for one most memorable evening.
