World League Wrestling’s Eldon April 28th recap. By Shane Cooper

Posted by flairwhoooooo on June 14, 2012

Editor’s Note: First off thanks to Shane  Cooper for this write up on this exciting night of action from the last WLW show. I have to apologize for not getting it out there to the MWR fans sooner; in fact I thought I had already posted it. It’s just that I have been so busy with day to day life(broke down cars, being broke lol) working on MWR Trading cards, hyping the 2011 Yearbook on the site and trying to get support along with it. That being on the road along with e-mails galore has meant that I have been getting behind.

With that said, I hope you enjoy this write up along with the photos of an exciting event from Eldon Missouri for Harley Race’s WLW show in April.

WLW returns with a great show in Springfield, Illinois feature the #1 contender for the WWE World title Dolph Ziggler with a meet and greet, the 2011 MWR Future Star Award recipient Brian Breakers last WLW show before he heads to work with the WWE developmental system, the 2-time MWR Female Wrestler of the Year Stacey O’Brien takes on the most decorated WLW Ladies Champion in the history of the promotion Miss Natural. Yet that’s not all, Marshall and Ross Von Erich take on Strong and Reckless for the WLW Tag, Mark Sterling will be in action as well as the current WLW Champion Jason Jones.
Also in attendance will be world renowned artist Rob Schamberger who will be offering an exclusive 25 Harley Race prints that will be sold for only $25.00 with all the proceeds going towards the Make a Wish program.

Then the next night we will be in St Louis for SICW as the new CWC Champ Ricky Cruz defends his title for the first time against Gary Jackson. Plus the debut of “All That” Matt Murphy to the promotion adds only to the excitement of the night. Last but not least how will Ron Powers act for the first time in over a year he does not have the title?

2 Great Nights here in the Midwest that you will not want to miss.

Greetings all, I was recently fortunate enough to be at the Eldon WLW show and was treated to a great night of wrestling. There is one thing that the big guys could learn from WLW, and that’s simply that wrestling fans want to see wrestling and the story gets told in the ring, not on locker room interviews or kisses in the parking lot.

The opening match of the night featured “The Gentleman Bruiser” Ryan Drago who had a very impressive performance winning a 3 way dance against two formidable opponents in Britton Tucker, a guy that is new to me and Mark Sterling who could easily be in a main event picture as good as he is. Drago took a beating in the match, but at the end of the having his hand held high with a busted lip in a much deserved the victory. I hope and expect to see him in title contention soon, he deserves it.

In the second match of the evening “Superstar “Steve Fender  took on an up and coming star in Marshall Von Erich. Marshall has a great look and Steve is no pushover in the ring.

With more match time, more experience taking on skilled veterans like Fender, Marshall can only become something special, and with him having a legendary family name, it certainly doesn’t hurt his cause one bit either.

Stacey O’Brien proved why she is the best women’s wrestler in the Midwest in her victory over The Great Cheyenne. She’s not only a great competitor but also very easy on the eyes. On the other side of the ring The Great Cheyenne played her part to perfection and I’m sure this isn’t the last meeting we will see between these two.

After the intermission we were treated to two matches that were a wrestling clinic . with each being just as good if not better than what you watch on TV in the big companies. The four names of the guys in these last two matches, if you don’t know these guys, search for them, you will be pleasantly surprised.

Jeff Strong won a back and forth battle against somebody who I had not seen before, but I most definitely want to see again is the man that goes by the name of Elvis Aliaga. The match was for the second annual Harley Race Invitational tournament and each man left it all in the ring. Outstanding match by these two guys and I was impressed beyond belief by how great these two guys were.

In the Main Event of the night, the WLW World Championship was on the line as Jack Gamble challenged Champion “The Prince of Professional Wrestling” Jason Jones. The crowd had Jones riled up as they chanted “Princess” “Princess” over and over again. This would get under the skin of Jones allowing Gamble to earn the upper hand early.

The match went back and forth as Jones would use cheap shots and anything he could to gain the upper hand. He even used the ref as a shield knocking him out in a moment in which Gamble rightfully could have won the match. With the ref down it allowed Jones time to use a foreign object knock Gamble out and pin him for the 1-2- 3.

As the champ walked away thinking he had the victory, former WLW Champion Brian Breaker came to the ring, showed the ref what had happened, and the decision was reversed.

A victory for Jack Gamble but Jason Jones cowardly ways allowed him to keep the belt to fight another day. I wish they had restarted the match, but that’s for another time.

Also a big congrats to Brian Breaker for being awarded the 2011 MWR Future Star, a great honor for him and most certainly very deserving.
