In less than 24 hours the historic South Broadway Ahtletic Club will be surrounded by lumberjacks…the ring that is. The feud that had been heating up from 2011 will come to a head in the third matchup between MO/IL Heavyweight Champion Gary Jackson defends his title against Brandon Espinosa.
Espinosa, who has been the MMWA-SICW TV champion since defeating Dave Vaughn last June 11, 2011 along with capturing titles around the Midwest thus giving him the honor of being named the number one wrestler of the year.
Gary Jackson has been one of the longest reigning current champs in the MWR coverage area. Jackson has reigned as the MO/IL Champ since defeating current WWE developmental wrestler Donovan Ruddick on December 4, 2010.
With the fans packing into the SBAC month after month, Gary Jackson has defended his title against the likes Jimmy D, The Big Texan, Sean Vincent, Big Dave Osborne, Wayne Mitchell and went to a double countout with the “Iron Man” Mark Sterling.
Yet the man who had caused him the most trouble is the current 2011 MWR Wrestler of the Year Brandon Espinosa. Espinosa has been red hot on his tail to add the MO/IL title to his vast resume. The two would meet on November 8th with Jackson getting the win via DQ to retain his title.
Espinosa would send a message to Tony Casta and the SBAC brass when he would defeat Big Dave Osborne, Phil E Blunt in the tournament for the St. Louis King of Cable Cup American Legion Post 162 @ Saint Louis, Missouri on 10/29/2011. Jackson had defeated the man that would later be name the PWI Rookie of the Year Ace Hawkins and Dave Vaughn to enter the finals against Espinosa. In a classic matchup, Espinosa would prove that he was more than capable of defeating Jackson and had the St Louis King of Cable cup as bragging rights.
With tenstion building between Jackson and Espinosa they would go at it on December 3rd. The Big Texan (dressed as Santa Claus!) interrupted the battle and attacked the champion Jackson thus giving the champ another DQ win.
Commissioner Keith Smith declared that Jackson and Espinosa would meet again and this time there will be order maintained.
This time in a lumberjack match!!!!
So MWR fans be ready for a lumberjack match as wrestlers will surround the ring, and if either Jackson or Espinosa try to escape they will be thrown back in…..With force.
Who will have the edge and can Espinosa become the man who is a top of the SBAC?
