Missouri Wrestling Revival is very proud to present Larry Matysik with our newest award, the Lifetime Achievement Award. Larry has been a staple of the St. Louis wrestling scene since his days doing play-by-play for Wrestling at the Chase. He worked closely with Wrestling at the Chase promoter Sam Muchnick for the bulk of his career. When things began to go downhill in St. Louis, Larry was hired on by Vince McMahon and worked with WWE for 10 years. His contributions to not only St. Louis wrestling, but the entire wrestling community, are nothing short of spectacular.

Larry is also the author of three books: Wrestling at the Chase, Brody and Drawing Heat the Hard Way: How Wrestling Really Works. However, nothing I can say will fully grasp the magnitude of Larry’s dedication to, and love for, the wrestling business. Regardless of all its faults and low points, Larry cannot stay away. It’s in his blood. It always has been, and it always will be. It is with great honor, that we present Larry Matysik, my mentor and friend, with the first-ever MWR Lifetime Achievement Award.

What a deserving award. No one is more deserving of this award then Larry. His years devoted to the business goes without question. He has has contributed more to the business then most know. Both while working with Sam Munchnick, and later on with his own promotion and then for ten years with WWF. Plus the written of three great books. He has also worked with me for years on the independent scene introducing Tony Casta and I to some of the greats from the past. Larry is still willing to help whenever he is needed. On Thursday Feb 25th from 6pm until 9pm Larry will be in attendance at the Applebee’s in Swansea Illinois where they will be playing some of the tapes from the “Wrestling At The Chase” program on the big screen televisions. Larry will be there to talk to the fans, and radio station KZQZ 1430am.com will be there to interview the fans of the past and the present. Join Larry as he takes a stroll down memory lane. Thanks to Missouri Wrestling Revival for choosing Larry Matysik to receive this award.
