3XW Starts 2010 off with New Years Revenge

Posted by flairwhoooooo on December 19, 2009

DES MOINES, Iowa – For the first time ever, Des-Moines based 3XWrestling (3XW) will present a wrestling event on a holiday as it presents a stacked card for New Year’s Revenge on Jan. 1 at the Des Moines Social Club.

The historic main event of New Year’s Revenge features another first for 3XW: a 3XW Heavyweight title match contested under classic “best two-out-of-three falls” rules.

Rory Fox, a 10-year-veteran of professional wrestling and a native Iowan, will challenge 3XW Heavyweight champion The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt for the title in a rematch after two previous bouts ended in controversy.

Last month, the main event of 3XW’s November Knockout event ended in a controversial draw, as both Fox’s and Wyatt’s shoulders were pinned to the mat for a three count. Moments before the pin, Wyatt’s head inadvertently crashed into a chair stuck in the turnbuckles, leading to Fox delivering a German suplex with a bridge, believing he pinned Wyatt to win his first 3XW Heavyweight title. Unfortunately for Fox, however, Wyatt’s own body weight also held Fox’s shoulders to the mat, leading to the highly-rare “double pin” scenario.

This came off the heels of Wyatt’s controversial victory at Halloween Horror 3 in October, where Wyatt “inadvertently” (or so he claims) poked the referee in the eye while Fox was applying a Texas Cloverleaf submission hold. When Wyatt started to give up, the blinded referee had his back turned and was trying to regain vision in his eye, causing him to not see Wyatt submitting.

After a lengthy period of time, Fox released Wyatt and walked over toward the referee to check on his condition. With Fox’s back now turned toward Wyatt, the opportunistic and evil champion nailed Fox from behind with a low blow and quickly rolled him up into a pinning position. The referee had since recovered just enough to count the pin, ensuring that while the hundred-plus in attendance loudly chanted “RORY, RORY, RORY…” in support of the local challenger, Wyatt would escape the Des Moines Social Club with his title.

The events of October and November led Fox to laying down the challenge to Wyatt for a two-out-of-three falls battle, which the champion was more than willing to accept. As seen on 3XW Outside the Ring at http://www.3xwrestling.com, Fox asked for the unique rules due to the shady ways that Wyatt had escaped with his title thus far. Wyatt believes that he’s already clearly beaten Fox twice and says he will gladly beat him in two more falls.

Regardless of the outcome, the main event on New Year’s Day is bound to be another classic battle for the 3XW Heavyweight championship, one of the most highly regarded championships in wrestling today!

Other scheduled bouts include:

– 3XW Cruiserweight Championship Battle!
“The Rockstar” Jimmy Rockwell vs. 3XW Cruiserweight champion Casanova (with Todd Countryman)
– One of 3XW’s top rivalries of 2009 continues in 2010 as former champion Rockwell looks to regain the title from Casanova, the man who broke his right foot and ended his near-record title reign.

– By Order of 3XW Commissioner Todd Countryman!
“Delicious” Devin Carter vs. Mark Sterling (with Todd Countryman)
– Carter, a former three-time 3XW Heavyweight champion, has vowed to take out Countryman’s Gentlemen’s Club stable one by one. None too pleased with Carter’s threats, Countryman has signed him to battle Mark Sterling, the top technical wrestler in 3XW!

– Grudge Match!
“The Right Price” Aaron Masterson vs. “The Laotian Sensation” Ricky Kwong
– In recent months, Kwong has assaulted the enthusiastic Masterson with a steel chair and brutalized him with submission wrestling. Will “The Right Price” gain a measure of revenge and pick up a huge win after going winless despite looking very competitive in 2009?

Also scheduled to perform: 3XW Tag Team champions The High Flyers (“Unbreakable” Zach Thompson and Pro Wrestling Illustrated “Rookie of the Year” nominee Mike Sydal), Sexy and Smooth (“Canadian Sex Icon” Ryan Slade and A.J. Smooth), Maddog McDowell, “Torturous” Tony Sly, Sparrow, and more!

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. for a 8 p.m. start time. The Des Moines Social Club is located at 1408 Locust St. in Des Moines.

Founded in 2005, 3XWrestling, a Des Moines-based organization, has performed in front of thousands of fans across Iowa and been featured on KCWI TV, Des Moines Radio Group stations, Iowa Public Radio and in publications including Juice, Cityview and Pro Wrestling Illustrated. 3XW events are held the first Friday of each month in Des Moines.

3XWrestling and its performers are also heavily involved with charity work. Most recently, 3XW and Toys For Tots worked together at November Knockout to collect toys to help provide children a happier holiday.

Last February, one-legged wrestling star Zach Gowen competed in 3XW and helped raise over $10,000 to help the family of a young man whose leg was amputated due to his battle with cancer. All proceeds from that event we’re given to the family to offset medical costs, with every wrestler performing on a volunteer basis.
