MWR’s 2008 Wrestling Revival Cup Singles Results

As stated in the last Editor’s Desk… the 2008 Wrestling Revival Cup season has been wrapped up! Each promotion in the MWR coverage area received representation, but final winners have been crowned:

Missouri Wrestling Revival’s
2008 Wrestling Revival Cup Champion:

“The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt (287 points)

Accomplishments:

  • Pro Wrestling Phoenix Heavyweight Champion
  • Lethal Wrestling Alliance Heavyweight Champion
  • Lethal Wrestling Alliance Medallion Holder
  • Number 1 contender to 3XWrestling’s Pure Championship
  • MWR Juune 2008 Wrestler of the Month
  • MWR Match of the 1st Quarter 2008
  • MWR June 2008 Match of the Month
  • MWR February 2008 Match of the Month
  • Number 27 in the 2008 MWR 100.

“The Rebel” is one of those guys that people in the area respect, be they fans or his opponents. He’s had two “Match of the Month” honors this year, a testament to his wrestling abilities. Even though he can help put on an entertaining match, his real talent lies in his ability to win the big matches. This year he has been undefeated in one-on-one matches for Pro Wrestling Phoenix, won the LWA medallion, became the number one contender to the 3XW Pure Champonship by defeating Mad Dog McDowell and Arik Cannon, and capitalized on a technicality to win the LWA Heavyweight Championship.

He was by far the top wrestler in the area, regardless of his feelings about his #27 ranking in the MWR 100. He won both the competitive round and the voting round of the 2008 Wrestling Revival Cup, proving he has both the skills and the popularity to make it to the next level. When he makes it to the next level, don’t forget that he started right here in the MWR coverage area and that he was Missouri Wrestling Revival’s first ever Wrestling Revival Cup Champion by 99 points.

Congratulations to “The Rebel” Jeremy Wyatt.

Missouri Wrestling Revival’s
2008 Regional Champ:

Shane Hollister (188 points)

Accomplishments:

  • Scott County Wrestling Heavyweight Champion
  • MWR Wrestler of the 2nd Quarter 2008
  • MWR May 2008 Wrestler of the Month
  • MWR Match of the 2nd Quarter 2008
  • MWR Midwest Best Series Representative (2008)
  • One-half of the AAW Tag Team Champions (w/ Bryce Benjamin)
  • MWR April 2008 Match of the Month

Although severely beaten in the points by the 2008 Wrestling Revival Cup Champion, Shane Hollister did very well for the season. He earned enough points in both rounds to edge out Dingo and Hunter Matthews to be named the 2008 MWR Regional Champion. He’s a guy to watch on the Midwest wrestling scene, as he has one of the most solid chances to be working for even larger promotions in the years to come.

His star shined brightly in Missouri Wrestling Revival’s first ever Midwest Best Series match in a losing effort to 3XW Pure Champion Tyler Cook. He also captured the AAW Tag Team Titles with help from his Adrenalin Overdose tag team partner Bryce Benjamin this year. His biggest win of the season came in April, however, when he faced national wrestling star Tyler Black for Black’s Scott County Wrestling Heavyweight Title. That victory elevated his status in the eyes of many in the Midwest.

Congratulations to Shane Hollister for winning the 2008 MWR Regional Title!
